Why artists should verify their artist page on Street Art Cities
A platform built for hunters, now welcomes artists in the mix.
Street Art Cities has always been driven by one mission: document the ever-changing world of street art and connect the global community behind it. What began in 2016 as a small passion project has grown, nine years later, into one of the biggest and most respected street art platforms worldwide.
For years our hunter community, locals who document, upload, and tag artworks, formed the backbone of the platform. Every day new volunteers joined, helping us build the world’s most extensive street art map. But as we kept travelling, meeting artists, and listening to their needs, one thing became obvious:
Artists should not only be represented on Street Art Cities, they should have real control.
And that’s exactly why we introduced Artist Pages, and why today we’re inviting artists to verify their profiles and claim their work.
How we got here: from hunter maps to artist-driven profiles
Originally, Street Art Cities was created from a hunter’s perspective:
document your city’s murals, upload them, and help people discover urban art. It worked, incredibly well. The community grew fast, and with it the amount of documented art: over 85,000 artworks worldwide.
But something was missing.
As we talked to artists around the world, one thing kept coming up:
“Can I manage my page? Can I add my own work? Can I show people where my murals are?”
So we built a system where all artworks by the same artist are collected into one place:
The Artist Page.
A clean overview of your work, even the pieces that no longer exist, plus a map view that shows your murals across the globe. Think Studio Giftig. Think ROA. Think you.
Artists can now complete their page by adding a bio, website, social links, webshop, a profile photo, and a header image. They can even curate which works to highlight or hide.
And yes, after long discussions about keeping the ecosystem balanced, we finally added the shiny red “Add Artwork” button.
Hunters still document street art, but now artists can enrich their page with missing pieces directly.
Why You Should Verify Your Artist Page
Here are the five biggest reasons artists are claiming their profiles:
1. CONTROL
Take full ownership of your artist identity.
Once verified, you can:
Add your bio, website & social links
Link your webshop
Upload missing artworks
Organize your portfolio
Highlight or hide artworks
Build your own street art map
You decide how your page looks, not an algorithm, not a random user.
2. BUILD
A personalized, professional street art portfolio, with zero effort.
Upload your artworks and create a central map of your murals.
You can even embed this map directly onto your own website, something many artists tried to do manually with Google Maps.
Now it’s automatic and never fails….
3. ENGAGE
Instagram isn’t what it used to be (read all about it here), but people still want to follow your work.
On the Street Art Cities app, fans can:
Like your pieces
Follow you
Mark your murals as “seen”
Report damage or removal
These interactions appear in your insights dashboard and in our newsletters, helping you understand how your work travels through the world.
You can also join our Artist Forum to talk, learn, and share experiences with other artists globally.
4. BEST OF AWARDS
Verified artists can submit their murals for our extremely popular monthly “Best Of” selections.
Starting in 2025, voting will happen inside our app, not on Instagram, giving artists worldwide a more equal and transparent way to compete. Made easy with a submittal window found on the dashboard.

5. LEADS
With verification comes visibility, and opportunities.
A verified page unlocks:
A Get in Touch button so festivals, galleries, cities, and clients can reach you directly
Once activated, artists are also shown in an artist directory on the dashboards of our official partner cities. Opening the path of being contacted for commissions, kinda like the old school ‘yellow pages’
Access to mural opportunities, open calls, residencies, and more
We’ll be sharing these exclusively with verified artists.
